Memorial Union Solicitation Policy
Solicitation within or outside the Memorial Union must be approved by the Memorial Union Administration office, and must be conducted in a way:
- That will not disturb or interfere with the regular academic or institutional programs or other programs being conducted on the campus;
- That will not interfere with the free and unimpeded flow of pedestrian or vehicular traffic on sidewalks, streets, or entrances to campus buildings or common areas of campus buildings;
- That will not harass, embarrass or intimidate the person or persons being solicited.
Solicitors will not set up tables directly under the canopy over the front (north) entrance. This area must remain clear of obstructions in the event of a building evacuation due to emergency conditions. Tables are permitted on sidewalks as long as they do not interfere with pedestrian traffic. The Memorial Union does not supply tables or chairs for solicitors.
If the Memorial Union receives reports that solicitors are making people feel harassed, embarrassed or intimidated, the Memorial Union staff will (1) make the solicitor aware of their behavior, and (2) advise them that if it happens again, they will be asked to leave the premises. If the behavior continues, the incident will be reported to the University Police Department. |
